Stretching Exercises You Can Do At the Office

A long day sitting in front of a computer can be draining. Now, if you still has a long day to go and you are trying your best to get through it but the stress is creeping in, here are some ways you can ease the pressure and get back to working better:

Ear to Neck Stretch

How to do it:

You need to tilt your head and bring the ear to the shoulder until you feel the stretch. Use your hand to apply slight pressure. You will feel the other side of the neck stretching. You can do the same steps for the other side.

Benefit:

You can do this exercise even if you are just seated at your desk. Doing these stretches at least 3-4 times per week will be good for your posture and also relaxes the muscles in your neck and shoulders.

Rotation Right Stretch

How to do it:

Sit properly. Your spine should be in neutral position and your body is relaxed. Rotate your head to one side and gaze over your shoulder. Do the same thing for the other side.

Benefit:

This stretch also helps you stretch the neck and shoulder area.

Shoulder Stretch

How to do it:

Keep your shoulders relaxed then cross your right arm over your chest. Cradle it with the left hand. Apply slight pressure. Do the same for the left side.

Benefit:

This targets your shoulder and arm muscles which are often strained because of your position when working in front of the computer.

Upper Back Stretch

How to do it:

Cross your arms in front and grab the arms o the chair or hold onto the bottom of the seat. Lean back while keeping your spine aligned until you feel the slight stretch.

Benefit:

This will further help your shoulder and upper back relax.

Lower Back Stretch

How to do it:

Keep your spine aligned and then, while sitting, bend your hips and touch your toes or the floor.

Benefit:

This helps ease the pain you often experience when you are slouched on extended periods.

These simple stretches may seem very little movements but when you do them regularly, you will feel your muscles relax and you become more alert at work.
